October Newsletter

Dear Members,

With the relaxation to Level 1, it is good to see many more patrons at the club. The festive season is upon us and we hope to make hay whilst the sun shines when it comes to functions and events. The Marketing & Events team has been hard at work to secure as much business as possible over this period to get back what we lost in the prior months due to the harsher restrictions relating to Covid 19.

I would like to encourage all members that are business owners to make use of the Club facilities for their business year-end parties, we have created a festive package deal that will suit your needs and in doing so you are supporting your Club.

A reminder to members that we all must adhere to Covid 19 regulations by sanitising your hands and wearing your mask. I have noted that many of us have relaxed these rules and we need to respect the fact that Kyalami is a public space and these rules do apply.

On the My Home Club application, we have loaded the Club's code of conduct and the Constitution. I encourage all members to read these documents and to be aware of the rules and regulations that govern the club. If you have not yet downloaded the My Home Club Application or are battling to navigate the application, please contact us and we will gladly assist you. For more information on My Home Club click this link

I am happy to report that our Junior membership initiatives are starting to pay off. As a club, we have affiliated with a variety of schools in our surrounding area and have started to see a number of scholars attending lessons and playing golf on Mondays. This is a great opportunity for these juniors to join our club and potentially their family members as well. The increase in junior and intermediate members brings new life into the club and reduces the age risk which is currently averaging at 54 years of age. Again, I encourage all members to support this initiative, challenge your owns kids to join up, and to welcome them into the Club.

Friday nights are family night at the Club and we invite all our members to bring their families & friends to enjoy the live music on offer and scrumptious club meals to choose from off our Clubhouse menu. The kitchen closes at 8 pm. The more support by members and their families the stronger the Club will become on both a financial and operational level.

We have the best views in town and nothing beats a hearty breakfast on Sunday morning on our patio with your family and friends overlooking the club's golf course. Breakfast is served from 07h00 until 11h00 and our menu caters for all ages and the health-conscious. New to the menu are breakfast smoothies made from fresh produce, so please give them a try.

As we drive towards a family club environment we ask that all members respect others around them when it comes to the use of vulgar language, especially in the presence of minors and ladies. Members that smoke are reminded to do so in the designated smoking areas of the club, this includes the use of E-Cigarettes, the Club and the Member can be held liable for a fine if the laws are not adhered to at all times.

Warm Regards,
Darryl Williams
General Manager

What an outstanding year for Kyalami and our league sides!

> Our ladies flew the flag by winning 3 of their 4 leagues that they compete in not to mention the league finals as well!

> Our Mid AM A Side managed at a win at ‘Fortress CCJ’ and secured their victory in the Mid AM league with a game to spare and will be promoted to the top flight.

> Our Mid AM B Side with a game to play still has a chance of topping their league as well.

> Our Betterball A-Team completed a near-perfect season and have won their division quite comfortably – they are now in the top flight as well.

> Our Betterball B Team is on track to win their division very comfortably as well!

What an amazing result across the board for us!

Next weekend is the Kyalami exclusive competition – Lanchashire Medal. The Captain’s Prize is one of our majors and is the penultimate major of the year.

Our team recently hosted a Kyalami Corporate golf day where top executives and CEO's were treated to a day out on the golf course with a KCC representative. Each team explored the beauty of our golf course and the food and beverage we aim to offer at each special event.

The day was a big success and we hope to encourage more corporate companies to take us up on the exclusive Corporate Membership packages we have defined.

Well done to the team on a successful day!

The new handicap cards are now available for collection at reception with Carla.

You may pick them up during office hours Tuesday to Friday.

Your current handicap card will still work until your new one has been activated.

Greetings to all, let's hope everybody is in high spirits and looking forward to the crazy season which is just around the corner. With that said we must be cognizant of the pressure, it puts on the course and what it means to the speed of play and the ability of the maintenance staff who will be at a disadvantage when it comes to carrying out their daily tasks of mowing. The staff is up early to get through the day’s work, and they require patience from the players should they be busy doing routine maintenance.

Lots of visitors to the course are always welcomed as they get to enjoy the course at its best. We do however do not want to chase them away and need to encourage them to become members and have a healthy membership growing day by day.

The course now is going through a transition into summer and needs rain. We do water our course at night as it is a manual system, and one member of staff works a nightshift and ensures that all areas on the course are watered. It is an advantage and a disadvantage to have a manual watering system, nevertheless, we get it done and the course looks great.

The new tee boxes are coming along nicely and will be opened when they are ready, so patience will be appreciated. We used a laser leveling machine to do the tees and worked very well. We will be doing more of them in the future as it is an easy process.

We can look forward to a great course again and hope to see you on the Fairways.
