Good day everyone,

I am extremely excited to join the Kyalami County Club team as the new General Manager. My family fully support this move and they are also looking forward to the big change in a new town.

I am a family man that enjoys a braai any day of the week. Meeting and making new friends is one of the biggest advantages of this industry. Making people feel good gives me satisfaction and I aim to create a friendly environment for everyone that enters through the gates, every single day.

From my experience I know that you need motivated and happy employees to take care of members and guests and in these difficult and uncertain times this is going to be a high priority.

My door is always open and I encourage you to pop in for a chat.  I welcome members’ concerns and input, with it we will steer our club to its strengths. I feel very lucky to work with a board that are also leaders in the industry.

You might ask: “Who is Thinus Keller?”

The answer is> I am a product of life experiences and the people I surrounded myself with up until now.

Will I change? Yes, I will become better every day in every way. I am blessed to have been mentored by respected leaders of the hospitality industry. The culmination of 15 years in the industry has prepared me for this new chapter of my life.

• 3 years with Robert Bruno at Frenchman’s Creek, Florida (during the winter) and Darrell Kestner at Deepdale, New York (during the summer).   If you have not heard of them, do yourself a favour and google them, you will get insight of where I have been and whom influenced me.

I am highly motivated to make Kyalami Country Club a favourite destination for everyone to spend their quality time. I look forward to meet everyone at the club, feel free to give me a call and introduce yourself.

We would like to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to Darryl Williams for his contribution to the Country Club, staff and members.

He is taking on a new role as Operations Director for My Home Club. Working on a National level with Hans Jonck. All the best!

This past weekend was the rich tradition of the Kyalami vs Japan Day and despite icy conditions it was a wonderful event as usual. Kyalami managed to lift the silverware again and we thank the Japanese Golf Club as well as the Japanese Ambassador to South Africa for their continued support of our club.

On Saturday the 2nd of July is our next Major, the President’s Cup and it is a fourball alliance.

Temperatures are dropping and the mornings are real icy on the course, we have a great selection of beanies, gloves, mittens and jerseys in the shop. We also have some new metals in stock > Ball Markers, Pitchforks and divot tools to ensure our greens are well looked after. Pop in for a shop!

From the 1st of July our new stroke indexes will kick in.

There will some changes that come across as strange however all changes were made to bring us in line with the World handicapping Alliance as well as with consultation with GOLF RSA. The most important change to the way strokes are assigned is to remember that strokes are no longer assigned just by difficulty of the hole.

From the Shed > Greetings to all,

How time has flown by and we are heading to summer already, we are passed the halfway mark and things will start warming up. We still have a way to go but being positive does help.

We have finally had a couple of cold spells  and lots of frost.  We have been very successful in completing two major projects on the course and are busy with the bridge at the 11th hole currently. It was deemed necessary to remove the bridge as it was not safe and was collapsing. We will not be building a bridge in the spot but a coarse way.

The course in general is still looking good and we will continue with our current programs and ensure the members of a great course again in summer. To help in this we have done a complete upgrade on the 17th pump house and this will be beneficial in a lot of ways.

I will be looking forward to seeing you on the course.

Dear Members,

The kitchen renovations are nearing completion and we are pleased to announce that we are still set to reopen on the 7th of July. A lot of work has gone into improving the current facility and the offering it will deliver. Well done to the team on their efforts.

Our new menu offering is available for viewing on the Kyalami website and we are also happy to announce that Sushi will also be available from the 7th of July as well. I encourage all members, your families and friends to dine with us from the 7th of July onwards.

With the lifting of covid restrictions and Year end around the corner, we would like to encourage all our members who own their own business wanting to have a yearend staff party to consider the club as your venue of choice.
