Autumn is upon us and the clubs grounds definitely boasts some of the most beautiful sceneries in this season, what an awesome place to enjoy and early morning breakfast with your friends and family.
Winter will soon be here and with that our morning tee times will be starting slightly later.
Our social events in April being Easter Lunch and Quiz Night were well supported and enjoyed by all who attend. These initiatives are designed to encourage member participation in order to support the club and we encourage all our members to bring their families and friends to enjoy these social events.
We have had a lot on the go at Kyalami over the past month when it comes to minor projects both on the golf course and around the club house. These projects are being done to improve the clubs offering & facilities to be enjoyed by all. The Green Keeping staff have been hard at work in keeping the course in tip top condition and with winter on its way, we will start a variety of projects on the course in order to have them ready for growing season.
The entrance gates have been painted, the security gates have been automated and the parking lot has been cleaned up and repainted. Security protocols for entry and exit have been tightened and we will be keeping a close eye on vehicle movements with newly installed cameras that can track and identify suspicious vehicle registration numbers.
This coming month we have Mothers Day lunch on the 8th of May and Quiz Night on the 19th of May. Bookings for these social events can be made with Jeanette via email events@kyalamigolf.co.za
Watch the space, Night Golf will take place on the 3rd of June, along with some festive live entertainment and a braai. You can book your time with the Pro Shop, once again families and friends are welcome.
Winter has certainly extended it’s icy fingers and has a firm grasp over us. As the temps continue to drop and soil temps follow growth on the course will inevitably slow down and this may lead to a somewhat bumpy surface for a few weeks. We ask for some understanding during this period and we all look forward to smooth and quick surfaces soon.
April was a whirlwind and was also the host of our April major – The Chairman’s Cup. Hosted over 2 weeks as betterball stableford and 2022 was won by Brett Thornley and Andre Nel on 88 points.
Our next Major stop in 2022 is in July and is The President’s Cup which is Fourball Alliance.
You don’t have to be on tour to look great in a winter hoodie and we have some incredible Lyle and Scott winter wear in stock.

Greetings to all, well we are certainly getting our fair share of rain this year. I looked at the figures for the last three years and in 2020 we had 118mm for April and in 2021 we had 16mm and this year to date we are standing at 173mm which is quite a substantial amount of rain.
It is that time of the year again and Kyalami is a wash with the reds and oranges and touches of yellow as the trees signal the coming of winter and the sad departure of Summer.
It is a great time of the year to be on the course and everything is looking great. We can expect a lot of new projects on the course this winter, we will be doing numerous paving projects which are always a welcome addition to the course and always improves areas so badly worn by the carts and course machinery.
As always, I would like to say thank you to the members for their continued support and the great compliments that we are getting on the course and its condition. It keeps the staff motivated and they do enjoy hearing that their work is appreciated. I will see you on the fairway.
