Dear Members,  

Golf

First and foremost our Congratulations goes out to our new Club Champion for 2022 Lindile Nojontsholo, who shot a final round of 66 to take the Club Championship title. The competitiveness and comradery during & after the event from all the competitors was amazing to see. Well-done to everyone in making it a successful event.  

Golf rounds have remained fairly consistent for the month of March with 3651 full rounds and 10492 rounds YTD, taking into consideration the loss of round due to the heavy rains and course closure that we had to endure. Whilst we are slightly behind YTD we are confident to achieve our budget for the fiscal period.  

The course is in a very good condition thanks to the efforts by Etienne and the grounds team with the aid of all the new machinery that we acquired over the past year to keep the course in tip top shape. The winter projects will be starting soon and we will be make necessary improvements to areas to ensure that they are ready for the summer season.  

As winter is upon us, the tee off times will change due to a later sunrise which Kyle and the Pro Shop team will manage accordingly. The new times will be advertised accordingly once they are ready.

Food and Beverage

We have completed the renovations on the function rooms and the team have done an amazing job. The room is now at an acceptable standard for us to market to potential venue seekers. We have already started to see a lot of interest and we hope to increase our functions revenues in the months ahead.  

Our first Quiz night for 2022 went off with a bang and the members that attended had a fulfilled night, I encourage more of you to join in the fun as we will be hosting our second Quiz Night on the 14th of April, so please save the date.  

Our traditional Easter Sunday lunch on the 17th of April will be accompanied by live entertainment on the patio with kids entertainment to keep the little ones busy. An easter egg hunt will take place during lunch time for all the kids.

The halfway house patio has been upgraded and we trust that you will enjoy the facility even more now after your break from the first nine holes. The facility will also been made available after golf as a functions venue under the trees. Should you wish to make use of the facility please send your enquiry to events@kyalamigolf.co.za   

Unfortunately under the current economic situation and the fluctuation of the fuel price increases, prices from our suppliers on both food and beverages is currently being watched carefully, we do forsee increases to take effect on certain line items but we will keep these to a minimum where possible. Keep on supporting the club as this helps us make the necessary improvements to the facilities for you as a member to enjoy.

The Masters week has arrived and you’d have to be living under a rock to not know that the story of the week is Tiger Woods. Will he, won’t he – regardless of whether or not he plays it certainly promises to be one of the best weeks of golf.

The first round of club knockouts comes to an end this Sunday, please ensure you have your games played in time. If you are unable to play in time please email the pro shop and let them know. The knockouts for Club Championships are also up on the noticeboard. Each division has their own knockout bracket so please ensure you arrange your games timeously.

From the Shed.
Hello to all our members and I am sure that all is well. I am pleased to say that the Club Champs for 2022 was well received by all and was a great weekend for everybody, Well Done to Lindile Nojontsholo on a fantastic win and is Club Champion for 2022.

I am extremely excited about the new waste management facility that has been setup on the course between the 11th and 13th holes. All the old organic material which had been collected over the years has been mulched and will be turned into compost.

We will now be able to manage our organic waste better and manage it in such a way that we can put it back into the golf course.  In the photos is the result after the branches were chipped and the TLB is putting the material into windrows.  

A lot has been achieved over the last few weeks and the course staff have been busy with different projects. We look forward to adding and improving where we can.  As always thank you to those who are complimentary of the course and the staff do appreciate your compliments.
