You recently received your 2024 Membership information sent out via email. The NPC Board and the Governing Body approved a 7% increase for subscriptions and greenfees and we thank you for your continued support of the club. 
It is crucial to find the appropriate balance between member satisfaction and value for money on the one hand and the future sustainability of our Club and the funds required to continue to improve the offering available to our members. If for some reason you did not receive your 2024 membership mail, please contact Carla admin@kyalamigolf.co.za or 010 594 0034 .  
We have made it trough the most challenging period of the year and I am extremely positive about the remaining two months. Our course and club facilities are going to be busy and I hope you enjoy the vibe at the club. 
The rain is arriving much later this year, therefore the presentation of the course is affected with dry spots throughout the course. Rainfall numbers for October 2022 was 80mm, as I write this letter we only had 20mm for October 2023. The last week of October also came with extreme heat, putting even more stress on the grass. The Golf Data team are presenting the course beautifully, working within a restricted budget.
Water Update
We are still awaiting a contract from Kevin Power station to review.  For the months of September and October we have been monitoring the usage on the course, the dam level on the 17th and the amount we receive from the Kelvin line. The income from the water levy just about covers the invoices from Kelvin Power station. 
The last time the 17th dam was overflowing was in August before a meter was fitted to the line and the only reason the dam will overflow in the near future is when we receive storm water for our surrounding area. During this process my view of water has changed, I see money when I look at water now and when it comes from the sky I can only imagine that this is what the farmers were always talking about, always waiting for the rain.

What a feeling!!! Throughout the world club the feeling at the club was different. The power of rugby is able to unite a country and it certainly has an affect on our club as well. The final games were close and I am so proud of the team pulling together, winning every time it mattered.  
Now we can turn our focus over the Proteas in the Cricket World Cup, I have a strong feeling that we are going to make it a double this year. Go Boys!

Greetings to all our members, I am sure we are all surprised at this the 2nd last newsletter for 2023 and where has the year gone. It has been a very difficult start to the new season. The very quick transition from winter to summer is never pleasant and we experienced high temperatures and also very little rain compared to last year for the same period. 
The course has struggled with the heat and despite watering at night it was not sufficient to green the course up. However, we will manage and have had a respite in the weather of late and lower temperatures accompanied with rain will bring relief.
To digress I have looked back at the two recent world cups and have been proud to show support for our  Champions. Our fairway unit was seen flying the flags proudly on our fairways. This can be seen in the photos.
I will be looking forward to seeing you all on the fairways and thank you for your continued support.

We are into our final few months of the year and November is jam packed with Majors. 
Saturday the 4th November is the Captain’s Prize and dreaded Lanchashire Medal.
Saturday the 25th November is the Champions of Champions and this is open to all Monthly Mug winners for the year, major winners, league participants and committee members. A list of eligible players will be distributed following the conclusion of the Captain’s Prize.
Saturday the 2nd of December will also see us host our 2023 Senior Club Championship. This is open to any golfing member over the age of 60 and will be played in the PM field as a Stableford event over 18 holes. Entries can be made in the ProShop and the tee sheet will be released the week of the tournament.
I am in the process of finalizing the December Reciprocity agreement and will distribute as soon as it is finalized. This agreement is a long standing agreement between some of JHB’s top clubs and provides us all a cost effective way of exploring JHB’s top courses – outside of Kyalami😉
Knockout lists for 2024 will be on the board from December to allow everyone to enter before we scatted across the country to enjoy our December breaks. The finals of the 2023 knockouts will be concluded on the 25th in conjunction with the Champions of Champions. The betterball final sees Bryan Groome and Lambo Demetriou taking on Des Lange and Leon Strydom and in the singles James ‘Butch’ Robertson takes on Colyn Levin in what promise to be hard fought finals. 

Our Ladies Section continues to have fun on Wednesday mornings when they gather for the different weekly comps... IPS, Alliances, Medal and Putt and the Ladies Open which attracts ladies from other Clubs. 
The monthly Sunday Mixed Open was also well attended with Trevor and Jane Merrylees and Pieter and Lizette de Villiers claiming top spot and the winning vouchers.
We  are calling on all Ladies from KCC and visiting clubs to join us on the 15th November to participate in the annual Protea Bowl Better ball Stableford Competition - please contact our ProShop to secure your time.  This special golf day is followed by a delicious luncheon during prizegiving, with a lovely market with various enticing vendors.
